Hello! My name is Susan Victoria Hosmer. I live
in Cleveland, Ohio. A painter for 12 years now, I have done many shows and
commissions. I consider myself to be mostly self taught, although I
did attend Cleveland State where I was on the deans list. I learned
many of the technical aspects of drawing and painting there and from books
purchased along the way. I continue to study in the many styles of the
master painters as well as in experimental techniques.
It is my goal to create not only pretty paintings, but
instead thoughts and feeling that comes from viewing something beautiful.
Just as the parents of one of my clients heart swells with pride when they
view their daughters portrait, or the offspring would view their fathers
portrait with respect and admiration. It is my hope to create
heirlooms that will be treasured
through generations.
I welcome new portrait clients to view the new portrait
page, to see how easy and affordable these life long heirlooms can be
attained.
As art is created and viewed, for the purpose of feeling
more alive, it is my hope that those who view my paintings will derive their
own personal meanings from them.
I have been represented by The Goodwin Gallery in Medina,
Ohio. The Forest Gallery in Olmstead Falls, Ohio, and the Larchmere Gallery,
in Shaker Heights, Ohio. It has been my privilege to be included in
shows such as Artmart, an annual event, held to raise scholarship funds for
Brecksville High School. My appreciation also, to my growing list of
private collectors who have been so generous with their praise and
admiration. I am also a member of the Ohio Arts and Crafts Guild and the
Portrait Society of America.
Most of my paintings are works in oil paint. I
consider myself to be an impressionist painter. It is the style I have
become most fond of. The paint is layered in many cases as much as 20
times translucently, so as to achieve a feeling of depth in the color.
Creatively, a small collection of abstracts are also
available. These are painted with acrylic paint, laid on impasto
style. The design is of a musical feel, and indeed are created to
music. I dedicate the painting Orchestra to the composer Yanni, for
the inspiration to create it.
I hope you enjoy your visit and I welcome you to come back
frequently to see what's new.
